Regulations for the International Competition, Edition 2004

 

We are proud to invite you to participate to 2004 edition of Utopiales, Nantes’ international Science-Fiction Festival which takes place November 4^th-7^th .

Article 1

The International Competition aims to reveal and highlight science-fiction cinematographic works.

Article 2

The programmation board select the films, which shall be screened in International Competition.

Special dispensation notwithstanding, only films meeting the following criteria can be selected:

1. All films must have been completed in the 18 months before the festival.
2. To be screened as a French Premiere. According to a general principal priority will be granted to International Premieres.
3. All films must be in 35mm, 16mm, beta video or VHS with optical or magnetic sound, running time 60 minutes minimum.
4. They must serve the interest of the festival as defined in article 1.

Article 3

The entry forms must be accompanied by the following documentation:

• A Dialogue List of the film, on informatics material if possible
• Two VHS Tape

For promotion:

• At least ten press slides, or stills computer format (jpeg, TIFF on CD or e-mail)
• 3 posters
• 3 press book or flyers
• One betacam trailer or EPK from the film, for TV promotion if available.

The entry forms must be adressed to the programmation board untill Monday September 27^th, 2004.

Article 4

The Transport expenses of the print run on account of the festival, except when return to another Film Festival per request of the producer of the film. The prints of the films should be in possession of the festival, using Utopiales accredited shipping partner, by Friday October 22^nd last deadline.

Article 5

Utopiales will bear the insurance costs for the storage and insurance of the prints on the site of the festival.

Article 6

For the duration of the festival, no film can be retrieved from the competitive selection.

Article 7

The Jury of the International Competition is sound to award:

• The Utopia Award to the best film

All films selected by the OC to be presented in the Official Competition will receive a participation certificate

The prize winners and distribution companies pledge to attach to their promotional material the wording of the awards along with the festival's logo.

Article 8

Utopiales’ Organization Comitee is entitled to solve all cases left aside by the aforementioned regulation<

Article 9

The participation in the festival implies the acceptance of all 9 articles of this regulation.
