Science fiction is a distorting mirror of the reality, a way of exploring the present, just as Jules Verne did a century ago.
+In 2005 the Utopiales festival pays tribute to Jules Verne through many disciplines.
+
Literature will be in the centre of the festival with a lot of debates about Jules Verne's work.
Patrick Gyger, Artistic Director, has invited experts of the french author, as well as prestigious science fiction writers, who will comment on their work of the moment. Neal Stephenson, Orson Scott Card, John Crowley, Ian Watson, Joe Haldeman and Elizabeth Vonarburg, among others are expected to come.
The cinema section will present an exclusive cinematographic retrospective including some rare films linked to Jules Verne's novels.
An international competition is also planned.
Exhibitions will be devoted to famous illustrators, sculptors and designers, whose works are sometimes directly based upon Jules Verne's dreams or science-fiction classic themes such as space travel, imaginary drugs and futuristic means of transport.
+Meetings and exhibitions about comics, educational workshops, a Book Fair organized by les Librairies Complices of Nantes and the Role Playing Games area...
+The 2005's version of the Website is under construction...
